This error happened when loading a price file.
The cause was down to the short having the Advanced setting set to Run as administrator ticked.
This is now required when a company has more than one V6 system on their computer.
Below solution from Daniel at Soft tech.
This can be used when the active X error pops up with the description including a reg key e.g CreateObject("V6.Quote")This script applies to the below Error Descriptions:
V6.Quote
V6.Query
V6.Component
V6.PurchOrd
V6.Resource
V6.Frame
V6.Optimizer
V6.Fill
St.StringList
St.TextFile
Basically instead of going into regedit finding keys and renaming them I created a script to do that step for me, saving precious time and removing human error.
You will still need to run -REGV6SERVER on the shortcut to re-register keys afterwards.
I have included this script in this email, I have not had the chance to test it on customers yet so if you want to test it that is fine, it will only break V6 at its worst which I don’t see happening, If it does not work I would be interested to see why in that occasion and modify it to include the keys it fails to remove.
If you have any questions feel free to call me and I can give you a demo on how it works.
Run this file as Administrator, It can be run as a normal user if they have admin rights.
