While trying to open V6 after clicking the shortcut you get the below error (this was on Window 7)

Could not connect to the database: Shared Memory Provider:

Could not open a connection to SQL Server [2].

If you test the connection with the V6 connector the below message is the result

When you get the above error

Go to Start/Micrsoft SQL Server 2008 R2/ConfigurationTools/SQL Server Configuration Manager the click on the SQL Server Servicesbelow and make sure it is running.
